Kosi Lakes – 1-6 December
We were 4 bass boats for this period doing artificial lure angling on the lakes at Kosi. The weather was not all that great, this also affected the fishing. Rocksalmon was very, very! scarce. We landed only one small one on the last session of fishing on Sunday morning. Water temperature ranged between 24 – 28 Deg C. The great fluctuation in temperature and air pressure due to the storms coming thru definitely negatively affected the fishes eating patterns.
3[suP]rd[/suP] Lake again produced the better game fish with my dad and I both landing our PB GT’s of around 6.8kg each on the light tackle. One thing I will never forget is the wave of kingfish hunting in the shallows with birds dive-bombing the small fish that was chased...truly memorable.... My dad took 30 minutes to land his kingy. It ran into deep water and was quite hard to pull up with a 7ft bass rod and Quantum bait caster.
I was smashed near the Casuarinas and had a brisk 5 minute battle with my GT. I had to pull hard to keep it out of the reeds. My Storm Thunderstick was completely ruined afterwards and will now join the “chamber of fishing adventures†in my bar at home!
I also landed my PB Pick handle on a Rapala Shad rap – Firetiger. There were 2 Big eye kings that came out of 3[suP]rd[/suP] lake.
Lake 1 & 2 produced some Grunter and Stumpies on the long lines and “kafoefâ€. There was also a lot of bird activity on lake 2
A great time was had by all..
