Great fish guys. Kosi can be a tough destination, but also very rewarding. I found the best spot for the river snapper to be at the drop off as you come through the channel from third lake to second lake. Late afternoon is best. Get some live pouters put a nice big gun through its back, cast it out about 15m from the drop off and let it swim down. Fun and games. The snapper cannot leave them alone. Have fun!

Awesome stuff!!!!! Good to see the bass boats being put to good use in the salt. Saltwater fisherman don't realise how much of an advantage a bow mount electric motor is!!

Thanx Richard, personally I prefer lake 3. Lots of fish on the fishfinder where you say, but they wont bite. Early morning was the best bite, very little in the afternoon..

OK, here’s the breakdown...

We were 7 guys on 3 bass boats, casting only artificial lures. We fished from 19-23 December and had great weather. Of the 7 only 5 managed to land the fish.

The total tally was: River snapper – 8, Big eye king fish – 8, pick handle pike – 9

Biggest : Snapper – 7kg, Kingy 3.3kg, Pike – 90cm (weight not known, not sure what fish to use on Ori calc?)

Successful lures: Zara spook, chug bug, storm thunderstick, Bill Norman Jerkbait, Rapala fat rap, X-raps, Bomber Long-a

Methods: Fishing reeds near drop-offs, casting lures over drop-offs in 3[suP]rd[/suP] lake....ps – fish with a loose drag

Tackle used: Normal bass attire, but with 50lb braid P-line
