Kob run at Die Dam

Hi All

We were lucky to be at Die Dam this weekend while the Cob and Geelbek were in a feeding frenzy. The fish took almost any bait with zest! I even managed to land a Geelbek on a bare hook!

According to the locals this has been happening for at least 3 weeks.

When we arrived there two inspectors were issuing fines for undersized fish. The bait that worked best during the slow times was a chokka and sardine combo.

Fishing off the rocks at night or off the beach.

Any sign of steenbras at night.....the big ones

Hi Sard! Sorry we were on leave for a few days. But to answer your question: The fish were biting at the rocks during low tide and from the beach at high tide. However two other anglers were catching from the right side of the rocks during high tide. I haven't seen the fish so abundant at Die Dam yet. Good luck!

Last year this time we were nailing them off the rocks....between 8 and 12 kilos.

Next week its De Mond, to show the fly fishermen how bait and dropshot is king.

Where about is DE Mond? What do you usually catch there? Any  bits of info is more than welcome.

A couple of k's beyond Bredasdorp seawards. Its a national park.More for the fly fishermen , but perfect for artificial lurre and grunter.
