Kob on spoon ...

Conditions for catching kob on spoon need to be pretty spot on and in recent times , say the last four years have not been "normal" and to top that , I , for one have not really gone fishing ...

But this past weekend , I noticed that things were lining up....water , tides , barometer reading and I know this trend all to well and as the saying goes , The TREND is your FRIEND...I go down to my spot on the Saturday early evening around 18h00 and it looks beaut...

About 10 throws into my session , I get an absolutely SOLID rattle ....another 5 throws and now the kobbie is on , properly ...BUT , I over react and the hook pulls out...

Sooo...a good hour passes and Im at my spot at 06h00 the next morning , conditions are now at their optimum and its about to change as the baro tops out and things go south again....

Im 4 throws in and Im ON...this morning Im ready steady eddy.....kobbie is landed , all of 60cm and into a high tife pool he goes...

A quick coffee to celebrate and Im on it again...another two throwa and Im on again....this time its a spicy kobbie...landed and touching the 75cm mark...

Well , well ...the trend of conditions wins everytime...

I left the kobbies on the bite as i was on door duty at Church that morning , so all in all a BRILLIANT morning gooiing lepel...

Im watching the weather systems coming along the coast and Tuesday looks good . I nip off work at 16h30 and get down to my spot at 17h30 ...water looked absolutely "dead" ...not a bait fish in sight , no Jonny Dykers in the shallows ...NADA , ZILCH.....
I give a few throws and call it a day ...the low pressure was arriving sooner than anticipated...we look to the weekend and its a dark moon spring approaching....

Just as a side note , these are the spoons I am throwing at the moment , for those interested...

As you look at the pic , the two on the right are my own design S shape spoon and out of tin , weight is 1.5 ounces ...

the other two are commercially available out of chromed metal , for testing newer areas and when the tide is getting a tad low during a session...
