Kentucky Gentleman needing help...

Howdy Guys !!! (and Gals...)

I'm here from the States on an EXTENDED Vacation... Been here since mid December and won't be going back till mid March.(If then...) And I've tried to do some surf and rock fishing on my own with Miserable results. My knowledge of the sea would fit in a friggin thimble. So, I'm turning to you guys for advice. Been monitoring this forum for a few days now, and thought I'd just go ahead and bite the bullet and ask for help... So... HELP Please ?

I've fished the wall at Gordon's Bay Harbour, Surf fished in Langabaan, and Kalk Bay Harbour Wall.

Not too impressed with anything I've been able to land so far. But with 10' rods, I didn't really expect much. However, I'm willing to invest in tackle. Money is NOT an issue. But, just some idea of where I can go nearby for now would help tremendously !!! I've been to Blouburgstrand a few times, but have NO idea if I can actually fish there or not. I'd like to be able to hop in the car and be fishing in less than an hour's drive from Bellville. Time of day/night is not a problem either. Like I said, I'm on Vacation (NO JOB here) !

Any help at all would be GREATLY appreciated !

Thanks in Advance,

if money is not a issue then come up to wilderness and I'll help you get what you want, and I'll provide the tackle so you just need to pay accommodation and my time i have maverick coming down from Pretoria in Feb so you can fall in with him. pm me if you are interested.

Hallo KY_Gent and welcome to the family.
My advice to you is keep following the posts and get to know the members in your area, There are over 500. Find out when and where they are going to fish and simply ask if you could tag along.
I can be so blunt and tell you they are a bunch of nice guys and before you know you will be sorted and fishing.

That's what makes SEALINE such a terrific place.

itsarap,

Thanks for the offer! I'll keep it in mind. Wildernes looks VERY interesting to fish. I just might take you up on it.

But, I was hoping for something a bit closer than 3 to 4 hours away. The more time driving equals less time on the water fishing. The family here might not appreciate me taking off on a 1 or 2 day fishing excursion, but maybe later in Feb I might be able to do it. In the meantime, i'll see if I can hookup with someone locally to show me a few things about this area.

Again, Thanks for the offer.

follow Simens advice. Get hold of one of the locals, one name that comes up is Walt. He will be able to show you the ropes, where to go, what to target, what bait to use, tackle etc.

skrops,

Thanks for that, I'll take you and simen up on it...

A fishing partner would be the thing I need to get to know what's available around here.

KY...Hello and Welcome... I invite you to the Garden Route. The area is a haven for holidaymakers. They have fortunately all gone home and to work now. So you are welcome to come up the coast and get accomodation here and fish this part of paradise. The drive is easy, 50kms stops between towns so you will not be bored.6 hours at a casual pace and you will be in Paradise.
If you are enjoying the 'wind' - well what more can I say?

:)
