Hi guys. Is there anyone on this forum that fish Kleinbrak, Grootbrak, Sedgefield, Gourits, Mosselbay on a regular basis? I'm moving to Mosselbay soon and like to get to know the area.

Howzit, I see you know where to fish with a kayak, I’m going down round July time and wanted to ask where you know specifically, I’m clueless in terms of where reefs are and what to target. I’m going to be staying in gouritz but don’t mind driving around.

Hi Aidan, try to meet up with some locals in the area, July at Gouritz can be very difficult and dangerous with big seas and that coastline is treacherous. If the weather permits you will be targeting bottoms like roman, poensies and kob which you can find all along the coast. Just need a good fish finder and look for structure. Safest launch in that area is in bay at east side at point at Fransmanshoek.

I won't worry too much about lures that time of year, mostly use fish bait and octopus for the bottoms.
July is middle of winter here and if you don't know the area rather don't go out on the see. The currents will be strong, the swell most likely running and it will be cold so not the type of conditions for a novice in the area. Rather do some rock and surf fishing.

Alright thanks, will definetly take the warning about going out.
