hi Bokslaagte, Just a quick one where do you plan to use the kayak. If on still waters then all of above will work but if off-shore it's a different story. The guys advice is spot on and the rod holder placing suggested great. But if you are going to go off-shore (which I would not recommend in a modified kayak) then the rod holder in front of you will get in the way of paddling possibly but more so it will be dangerous to have hooks flying around in front of you whilst trying to navigate poor conditions.
For off-shore fishing you would also require a rudder system and preferably convert the one hatch to dry well for your safety kit as per the regs. Having done all this go to a safe stretch of water and sink it on purpose and make sure it has the buoyancy to float with you hanging on, this would apply to any water fresh or sea. Hope this helps , don't want to overstate the safety issue but when the pawpaw hits the fan it's good to have confidence in the boat.
