Kaborabassa Dam Mozambique

Hey guys I'm planning to join a fishing trip with some guys that are going to kaborabassa dam

Has anyone been there and what is it like do you know if there are any fish in there and any accommodation that could come recommended.

I'm in the dark here and would like to find out as much as possible so i dont look like a total fool...

Plenty of trophy size tigers , and some monster vundu.

Bream aplenty too.

Option of camp accomodation, and a 30 + km trip daily (one way) to the fishing spots, or houseboats.

Hope you come right  ..

Whats kind of fish are there in Kaborabassa and what do you use to catch them.
I herd people saying catch VUNDU with a cake of soap and tigers on big Rapala's the shallow diver this is because they feed like game fish they take from behind is this correct please help...

Did some fishing above the dam last year.
Lots of nice size tigers and some good vundu as well. Chessa fillets work well for both the vundu and the tiger, easy to get hold of as so many of the locals netting everything out there..just put the fillet on a decent hook and hang it out in the current..
any of the standard lures work ok as well - effzets etc - found copper/gold colour to be quite successful. don't think anyone used rapalas, but thats not to say they won't work.
should be some bream lurking around as well, but not sure where is best for them.

Hey Guys
Just some feedback on the the fishing trip to cahorabassa.

Emildo was fully booked on his house boats so we booked at ugezi tiger lodge..
Well this was i nightmare the traveling everyday to the fishing spots was + - 36kms everyday just to the fishing spots and then the same distance back everyday...

The staff were so unfriendly and the managers were drunk the day we arrived and were swering and shouting at staff and us...
anyway after them promising us fuel for our boat that we towed up there they told us that they wont be able to supply us any after 3 days of promises and guarantees.

well boys you know there is no fishing on a boat with no fuel and no oil so this became a problem...


We found other accommodation right at the beginning of the main dam which is called MORINGA BAY LODGE which is run by a zim lady who's father runs one of the capenta company's there they are very helpful and really went out of there way to help us and make our holiday complete..
They supplied us ample fuel,oil, dried capenta, fresh capenta and lots of ice for our booze...

I hope you guys can help other people who are looking at going there to contact me and maybe they could have a better holiday with the right info...
