Went for a cast yesterday. Got three good fish all on strips of barbel fillet. I unfortunately hooked a small one very badly and decided it would e est not to waste. Here's a pic of one...

Got smashed in my chops now. Barbel fillet again. Broke 50lb braid like bait cotton. I was sight fishing and a bull of about 15kg's came past. With a quick flip, he sucked it in and it was over before I even knew what was happening! My lady and I went for a walk at this dam a few weeks ago and we were looking at a few of those white ducks swimming about 2m away. Suddenly "GULP" and one was gone. My lady just looked at me and I laughed for about 15mins! That Barbel was huge and it's him I want! Had a Mustad Hoodlum open up the other day!

Bru, you should see how snaggy some of the dams are in my area. It's all about hook and hold. Lock the drag and straight stick! If you don't stop that first run, you can forget the fish, even the smaller 8kg fish like the one above!
