Jozini where to stay ?

I am planning a trip to Jozini in late october . We are planning to stay in chalets but I was wondering if we should stay at Nkonkoni near the dam wall or in the river section.
Where is the fishing usually better that time of year ? Nkonkoni looks quite organised?

Difficult question, the top end of the dam near the railway bridge (Golela) usually works well, however if we get rain early in October that end of the dam will be very dirty so you will have to go to the main body of the dam to find cleaner water.

Nkonkoni Fishing camp is a self catering challett and is awesome.......5*******. Got aircon and you can at least sleep on the beds. You have everything you need in your challet.

The launch site is a little tricky if the dam has gone down but if you got 4x4 then it should not be a problem. Contact Debbie  (0825522202) to do your booking. I am staying there during the bonanza.:fishn.

She also has space at the hunting camp.

I have booked at nkwanzi lodge in the river section they were the only ones who had space available for the dates we wanted to go . Its more expensive but fully catered so should just have to bring the boats and fish. Any one been there before they seem to know a bit about the fishing and do monthly fishing reports on there site .
Lets hope there isint too much rain before we go , going from 8th october to 11th october

Had a very INTERESTING experience at Nkonkoni in February this year.
Staff were very friendly and accomodating-- BUT

Firstly unless you are prepared to drive your vehicle a few miles into the water, launching a SkiBoat is impossible.
Secondly when enquiring about security / safety was told "No problem , maybe the Elephant keeps the indig... at bay"   Well - we only stayed one night and had a box with several bottles of liquor ( whisky/Brandy/Sherry) stolen from the verandha during the night ( i was sleeping at the door with the door open). Suspect alcholic sneaky elephant.

Staff said -- "Shame, it's never happened before, here's your bill, Bye "

So no more Nkonkoni for me.

Where can i launch a jet ski from? Parks Board wont let me launch at their site.

I believe that Parks Board also control the water -- you need a boat permit from them anyway. You run a risk  that if you launch elsewhere and they find you on the water
If your boat complies with the regs and you are prepared to pay the fees, there should be no reason fro them to refuse.
I have found them to be very friendly and helpful.

Jet-ski's are no go on Jozini - parks has an issue with crocs. They don't allow Kayaks either
