We fished the tiger fish bonanza this year and a lot of talk about how bad the fishing was. Yes still some big fish taken but in general the fishing was not good. Couple of month back 50/50 view a program about the poaching taking place on the dam and they say 1 TON!!!! of fish per day is poached, that is 30 TON’s of fish per month. Granted that includes other species and not just tigers but no dam will be able to sustain that kind of abuse for long. VERY SAD.

the guy at the lodge was telling us that the numbers for the bonanza was something like this over the 1000 fisherman just over the 100 fish caught

i have always thought there would be huge Bass there with all the farm dams in the area beeing full of Bass.

From the Launch site at golela on live bait 2 January 2012 we mannaged to land 9 fish the smalest was 3kg the largest 7kg

All these fish where safely released was a amazing day, i grew up here and been doing this now for 20 years i always get fish when i catch from the shore, the bait is the big thing only live talapia if you plan on catching a good fish, so dont write off jozini there are some awsome fish there next time you plan a trip let me know!!

awesome tigers - when they biting they biting !! but pulled many a blank there..

 

canwe get the bass pics - i cant belive they survive in there but will be greaat to target when the tigers have lock jaw.. can you post a few pics

I caught a couple of nice tigers at tiger lodge from the floating jetty using baby tigers turned inside out, chicken hearts, spleen of bovine and sardine. As a previous post sugested that 11:00 is the most active time of the day, Some of the guys who live there told me the same thing, but I could only fish in the evenings as I was there for work. Had a great time though.

Hi guys,

 

I just want your opinion on something please, the fishing for tigers from the bank is it only viable in the summer months or worth a shot in the colder months as well?

 

Interesting stuff none the less!
