Jozini Dam..??

Hey guys...

when i was at Jozini in june this year, we were out targetting tigers and barbel, but wherever we went there were always fish on the finder but not for the life of me could i get any of them to even bite a chicken heart, liver, berkely sandworm, bass blood worm, spinner, fly nothing.....

I was told they must of been tilapia of some sort...

So my question is, how do i catch fish other than tiger and barbel in Jozini dam...

There are 18 species of fish in Jozini.
Chances are if you are seeing them on the finder they are one of the shoaling species.
Kurper or Makriel - these can be caught on cranks or good old earthworm - hard to say what will work - keep trying as many things as possible till you find what they are bitin on.

ya i caught 5 smaller tigers in the 1-1.5 kg range....because it was winter the tigers werent too aggressive so they were all caught on the bottom with chicken hearts.....caught a few nice barbel too....

i guess the one thing i didnt try was earthworms...will give them a go next time...

bigMatt, when are you going to Jozini again? did you guys sleep inside the reserve with tents?..size of the barbel?

Im not sure when we will go next...soon hopefully..:):)
we stayed at nkonkoni fishing camp...about a km from the dam...has a slip way andall....
awesome place, highly recommend it....

the barbel we caught..1x1kg, 2x+-3kg and 1x8+kg ...also caught on chicken hearts on the bottom....

cant wait to go back....im looking forward to trying for kurper and then trying for barbel on lures...

oh and ofcourse going back to the spot where i lost my two monster tigers..:)

as ek my kar kry gaan ek elke naweek op een of ander plek wees om vis te vang...op hierdie stadium reken ek op my ouers om na al hierdie lekker visvang plekke te ry.....
