I was fortunate enough to be invited to fish deep sea off Durban south on Sunday. Weather was bad to start with, with a sw wind & rain, slowly swinging to a light ne wind and almost glassy conditions. Fishing was tough with a strong south north current.
We ended up drift fishing along a 24 fathom shelf where we managed to get a nice soldier of 4 kg's, some nice cod, a couple slinger up to 1.5kg's and i was rewarded with this lovely John Dory of 2.5kg's which the skipper kindly gave me for the pot.
Yes i know they're ugly looking, but are definately excellent eating.
