Hi All, this client had more overruns on these reels than he enjoyed using them, I helped resolve the problem for him.look at the Jmag the quality of build, look closely at the fit see what else is added to prevent galvanic corrosion. This shows you I know what I am doing. There is a video clip also I cannot uplaod them here find them on my face book page jonathans reel repairs and upgrades. Enjoy

That looks un-natural:shock:

But I guess each to his own... So if he plants his reel in a spike and sets his drag loosely he has no drag ratchet warning.

Thank you for your input, fitted there in consultation with the client.
He NEVER uses a ratchet he watches his rod. I dont see any problem with this, but each to his own, I am very happy his overrrun and casting problems are solved permanently and he has the benefit of enjoying his reels more than ever before. Mags I can fit anywhere on the sideplate.
He can now adjust his spool speed and braking as he desires very effectively by the turn of a knob, this adds more value to his enjoyment MORE than you will ever know as you have personalised the experience, your needs differ so i expect this kind of feedback so no problem,I expect personal negative feedback this is life. In essence I do whats in the best interest of the client in consultation. By the way it looks GREAT to me though, a quality product that is the most effective at controlling a reel, it is a well proven and documented concept.

Enjoy your day.;)

For those who are interested and technical minded.

A very objective comparison between breaking systems on multiplier reels.

NOBBY system, Magnet brake with instantly adjustable knob is currently the best brake system to achieve the longest casting distance in tournament casting competition. Where casters use non-level wind reels to cast around 100g sinkers to 250-300yds!! The trick of Nobby is that in the beginning of casting, it is a normal magnet brake system, but you may reduce the brake in the later manually. You will turn the knob to reduce the brake, while watching the line column. As you may easily notice, this is not for fishing, but gives us a great insight in brake system. Asymmetry brake profile for spool speeds in up and down is the key for longer casting without birds nest. (Sep. 2011)

Thx 4 the read very interesting..Thx Pieter

Monomags knobby aka Jmag type are used on the xasting court due to
1 effectively in control
2 benefits of not using friction to work which detracts distance.

In a fishing situation you adjust to get your best control and leave it set there.

At night if desired you can turn it amother turn in and not need to worry about overruns.

The is a multitude of information on the net I am certain, just google and I am sure all co cerns you have cqn be answered.

All my reels are magged with the JMAG monomag aka Knobby mag as they work the best .

As the link states, it is a great system because it is adjustable.

So the question is weather YOU like adjust ability or not?

Hi Pieter !
Perhaps we should call it "externally adjustable", as the internal system is also adjustable, just from the inside and not from outside ?

Just a thought ......

My late father used to say that " half a truth can be a dangerous thing " - so just to avoid confusion. ;)::respekt:

great conversions jono!

to achieve the best possible outcome in the angling sport, the best technology and advancements, techniques and equipment must be utilized... i am keen on giving this a go... and thats how things develop.

it will make a difference with having the ability to adjust to suit conditions.

the above posted article states mag knobs achieves the longest casting distance- half the truth
it is not for fishing- other half of the truth

has anyone tested it?
the jmag is customised and the size is reduced to "suit" our conditions. i am sure the ratchet can be retained? and the jmag fitted via drilling.

i will be getting mine soon.

Well done Jono. Looks like the reels came like that standard from the supplier. Keep up the good quality of work. Awesome stuff. U give anglers like me(not born with a trained thumb)some hope with multipliers in future. ((goodp_
