Jighead with wet bait.

I have a 2.5 oz rig. Can I use a 2oz jighead and thread it to red bait or any other bait instead of buying expensive Berkly Gulp artificial bait.
This must work don't you think?

And they are designed to be retrieved

Stationary they will quickly get stuck between the rocks
