Hi Fred

1. Do not buy anything less than 3 meter

2. If the budget allows buy 4 stroke

3. What make - That is up to you I have a Sea doo rxp and a yammie fx160 they are two very good ski’s. I use the Sea Doo more for fishing only because it is the older model

Then you follow the normal root kiting it out and sea worthy it and away you go.  You will however need a sea skippers.

Hi Fred & jetski chommies

Get a three seater jetski. Normally will the minimum lenght be right and the ski will be more stable. Dont just go for speed as these are normally smaller skis. I have a Seadoo GtI ski. I can stand on the edge of the side and it will not tip me off or roll over. By the way I am not a light weight. 120kg do. Make sure you have a stable ski otherwise will you not have a pleasant and relaxed time on the sea.

Enjoy

hi fred.

Is spoed regtig n faktor? Van waar is jy?

Hi Fred

The best ski all round is

Seadoo - GTI or RXT

or

Yamaha - FX140 or 160

With this selection you will have it all

Hi Guys

Make sure that you buy a stable ski. Mates of mine just returned from Mozambique. One of the guys in the group of four jetskis nearly drowned. He went to fast over the last swell and got airborn and fell of an hurt hinself when he landed back in the water.

He tried to get back on ski but could not succeed. Got so tired that he gave up and left the ski and drifted away from ski. Luckily did someone on the beach saw what happened and alerted another jetki guy to help. This guy was luckily retrieved before the water would take him over the reef. Unfortunately had some major damage to jetski as wave pulled it over the rock but at least he could retrieved it.

Old story never fish alone.

Never fish alone?? Flip, where are you okes then? I almost always fish alone as I cant find anyone to go with!

For jetskis: Look at the Yamaha VX110. Its a 4 stroke 100hp and is not as fancy as the FX160 thus cheaper. I thinks its a perfect ski for fishing. Personally I have the FX160. Seadoo is obviously also fine but I dont know the models to give advice.

Hi Mike

I will be down at the coast next week. I am leaving on Sunday and I just had word from Bennie and  “Well plenty gas bottles (YF) of Protea banks up to about 20-25kg and rumours of Amberjack at Aliwel on the pinnacles. In the shallows there is cob (Daaga) in good numbers.  I will be there 1 to 6 Nov lets hook up if you can.  I will be staying at Wild Coast sun. It will be quit a distance to travel however I would love to add a nice Amberjack to the collection.

@Johann: I got a long weekend this one coming. Weather not looking too great but if theres a gap you want to meet at Umkomaas to launch for the shoal?
