Hi Guys
I went out with my jet ski on Thursday - ocean at Richards Bay was I bit rough but wanted to test it out at sea. All went well after about 30min out it started missing while doing around 15km per hour speed wise. Decided to turn around when I gave it gas motor died. Did not start again. warning light came on. Did show batter indication on panel once. But it turned over still all the time. About 5 hours later after playing with the accelerator it fired up again. All normal. Flushed it and running fine now - haven't taken it out to sea yet. Filled fresh fuel before the trip and oil level all is ok. Any idea what went wrong.

Regards Andre

Had water in feul once with my stx. Wouldn't start but after a while swinging it started. But as soon as I gave a bit throttle it died. Then had to wait a while it would start up again. Eventually started it, and ran back very slowly. Found more than 50% water in feul. Had to open tank and clean out. Think there may be a bit of water at the bottom of tank, and when out in rough water it gets mixed with feul.

Thanks Fishaholic for the reply - finally got it started. Took it in to Kawasaki for a check up today - sea water in the fuel and fuel pump was full of water. draining and flushing system - If it is sea water then it could only come in from the fuel cap.
Hopefully the find the cause.

Hi,

I cant understand how seawater can get into the fuel tank if its completely sealed?Kawasaki had a recall with some of their models a while back due to the pipe between the filler cap and the tank perishing and leaking.I was at Cape Vidal 5 years ago with a group of jetski fishermen. The one guy with his Kawasaki had huge issues with fuel leaking into his hull at sea.It turned out that the abovementioned pipe was completely vrot.So fuel was splashing out of there, and flooding his hull.Lucky the ski did not blow up,with a hull full of fumes! He took ski into Fast powersports in Richards Bay,and they sorted this out.I hope Kawasaki has fixed this problem by now.

Best regards,
TAM
