You can wash your hands with sunlight soap as being made with natural extracts it washes off and doesn't bother the fish. When struggling to get lines to sink we spray them with a mixture of sunlight and water.
When the fish are extremely fussy it could be an issue but then think about this. Our dips and Mutis are all chemicals, I mean come-on TCP is only a pharmaceutical made of a variety of chemicals and it's a great bait.
People say don't eat an orange when fishing the oil from the skin will chase a fish away but my wife often nails the fish in Arabie using Citronella oil (oil from an orange skin (go figure)
I apply sunblock, everysun aquasport 3 times a day and take absolutely no special precaution and those who know me know I have been Prov Camp 3 times, represented RSA at WC 3 times been to 13 National trials on invite and had top 3 finishes on 5 National Champs.
It's the same argument of boil tap water first to remove all traces of chlorine and then go dip the bait in TCP or Almond (both chemicals) Putting almond essence directly on\to the bait is at a concentration of 10,000 times what chlorine is in tap water.
Erica Venter, 4 Times SA Ladies champ and 3 time Tri-Nations champ is painfully neat and well manicured. She applies Dawn hand cream to her hands after each time she has put a bait on, it's a ritual, bait up, wash hands (mielie bom off) bait up then hand cream (perfumed, not plain)
We once had a painfully correct angler who went ballistic when at a Prac day for a Nationals I loaded a trace for him and while doing so finished smearing my sunblock in, he went mad saying I should $%&% off as I was going to kill his kol
I put sunblock on his bol as a dip and went on to catch 16 carp in the next hour using sunblock as bol dip (I stopped because it's expensive)
I've seen anglers catch carp on actual brake fluid (not brake fluid caramel - they misunderstood) on orange peels soaked in petrol. if the fish are hungry the will eat.
I say if your angling has been good till now don't "bars 'n aar" wondering about the sunblock. Skin cancer is a bad thing, I lost my mom to it.
Just wash your hands off after applying the lotion, or eating and according to Marius (after this carp SA's) after you've been to the toilet or that's why you'll all of a sudden catch barbel.
