Wade you just letting this blacktip thing get to you, 0.55mm line and 1.4mm leader and you're fine. keep it simple.

By the way when are you getting a Tor 50, will pair up well with your bull shark. Why don't you join us on a trip to mazeppa this coming week.

I just got cut off after 40min fight at Gonubie Point by the mother of the Blacktip I caught a week ago!! 300m 1st run with a few jumps then got it to 50m at which time it tried to run me to the reef on the point, both times I stopped it (or it stopped ) 3rd time it went I thought no problem BUT it said cheers and ran right up to the reef and snagged my 0,50 main line, eventually it cut me off and I came home BLEAK stpime2

Yip, you can't win them all but at least if there's a lesson in every loss then it's not a complete loss.

it comes to show that even at gonubie point you can loose a fish. next time it runs far out be safe and take it to the beach, its a long walk but atleast it will be more worth it. you could walk on the tidle pool and then onto the boardwalk, the lights are on the left hand side of the board walk so you'll get height clearance as well, you just have to weave your rod past those little roofs by the stairs and you should be golden. looks like its 3 out of 4 you have landed and iv lost 3 in a row so maybe that means my 4th black tip I hook will be the one I land better luck next time, I waisted my time on the xbox to go and help you and then you go and loose it, tisk tisk

Wade next time I decide to do another duck pond trip I'll let you know, maybe even this Saturday or Sunday. We will just park after freshwater and walk the rest of the way, less than 10 minute walk. You keen?

How can X Box compare with watching me loose a Blacktip!!!! You were probably secretly thrilled that for once it was me and not you loosing it:headb

don't have enough tackle at the moment for a proper trip, my bullshark is at bilimoria at the moment getting the grip changed, so ill have to skip and I wont be taking my 9 ounce rod there, when the fish is close there might no be enough back bone to pull it away from the reef

I was abit happy that you have finally broken your 100% catch rate and now I think its time for me to brake my 100% loss rate for those black tips. but I was keen to see that fish, its never nice seeing a fish go

Jip thats a place where pulling a fish hard when it's close is required, my 120kg raggie that I lost was in the gulley left of ducks and kept on going in and out of the gulley and trying to stay behind rocks, even with a tight tor 50 drag and /8+1 with me pulling as hard as I could I still could not land it before something happened. No offense but pulling a fish there is very physical and a strong drag is need. Your finnor 30 and 0.55mm is not ideal , ideal is 0.6mm and Tor 50 with a 1.5mm leader or tennis racquet string leader.

A few years back I netted 5 bull mullets, it was pouring with rain and my Wife decide to join me. It was the most AMAZING hiding I ever received from the ocean.

It was like a sardine run of Blacktip Sharks in a 50m radius.

In 1 hour I had NO BAIT,NO LINE and NO TRACES, only memories on the most amazing hook ups. And my Wife laughing all the way home.

It never worried me then, I just tried HARDER.

I have since then caught many Blacktip Sharks.

What I love about the ocean is that you will never know what you going to catch. The photo on my avatar is a 23kg GT Kingfish, I was trying for a Blacktip Shark that gave me a hiding the day before.

What a feeling, they are two of the hardest fighting fish I have had battle with.
