A Department of Water Resources representative Philemon stops at a Free
State farm and talks with old farmer Koos.
He tells Koos, "I need to inspect your farm for the water allocation".

Koos says, "Okay, but don't go in that field over there".

Philemon says, "Meneer, I have the full authority of the Government
with me. See this card? This card means I am allowed to go WHEREVER I
WISH on any agricultural land. No questions asked or answered. Have I
made myself clear? Do you understand?"

Koos nods politely and goes about his chores. Shortly, thereafter Koos
hears loud screams and spies Philemon running for his life followed
close behind by the farmer's bull, gaining with every step.

Philemon is clearly terrified, and is screaming for help, so the old
farmer throws down his tools, runs to the fence and yells at the top of
his lungs.....

"Your card! Show him your card!
Now this........ this is F()koff funny!

ROTFLMAO!!!!

Hi guys, I started bass fishing about 10 months back and I am learning as I go. I live in the Montana area in Pretoria so the closest dam to me is Roodeplaat. This is also the place that I caught my first bass and it all evolved from there. I try to fish as many dams/spots as possible as it is more exiting to me. The one thing that I do not like anymore is to fish these small pond were bass is stocked as there are no real challenges to me and the poor fish. In saying that I know that it is difficult to get to the good spots at bigger dams because of the thousands of carp bank anglers that occupy most of the shoreline over weekends and public holidays.

I luckily have the opportunity to fish on Wednesday afternoons so they do not bother me that much, last Wednesday I went to Roodeplaat as usual with my famous inflatable boat and had one of my best days ever. Currently there are no boats allowed but nobody sees the inflatable at the gate and nobody has ever asked anything.

I normally go the last spot on the southern end of the Nature conservation entrance to the dam and this is were I started my day. I saw some old tree stumps in the water and decided to trough anchor about 30m from the spot. I started making long casts in-between the stumps and on the 3[suP]rd[/suP] cast it was go time, the fish put up a nice fight as it was a long cast. Fish more or less 1.5-2kg. I tried the spot for the next hour but the wind was howling and the anchor did not help much as water started coming over the back of the boat because of the big waves created by the wind.

I decided to move to the opposite shore as there would be cover from the wind, after reaching the shore I decided to drift with the wind along the shore line about 25m out. On my 2[suP]nd[/suP] cast the fight was on and after taking a quick photo the 2kg was released. I have drifted 40m from the spot were it was hooked and moved back to it, on the 1[suP]st[/suP] cast another bass was on and it was more or less the same size. I did try for some more but the weather was very unpleasant so I decided the pack up on a high note. This was the first time for me to catch more than 1 bass for the day at Roodeplaat. I did not take the lip grip digital scale with me so the weights are only estimates. See photo and judge for yourself.

I just wanted to share this day, hope it inspires you all to go fish

A young man graduated from University with a degree in journalism. His first assignment for the newspaper who hired him was to write a human interest story. Being from the country, he went back there to do his research. He went to an old hillbilly's house way back in the hills, introduced himself and proceeded to explain to him why he was there. The young man asked, "Has anything ever happened around here that made you happy?" The hillbilly thought for a minute and said, "Yep! One time one of my neighbor's sheep got lost. We formed a posse and found it. We all shagged it and took it back home." "I can't print that!" the young man exclaimed. "Can you think of anything else that happened that made you or a lot of other people happy?" After another moment, the hillbilly said, "Yeah, one time my neighbor's daughter, a good looking girl, got lost. We formed a big posse that time and found her. After we all shagged her, we took her back home." Again, the young man said "I can't print that either. Has anything ever happened around here that made you sad?" The old hillbilly dropped his head as if he were ashamed and after a few seconds looked up timidly at the young man and said, "I got lost once."
