It's been a while since any of us has done the tri-monthly "Missioning"  , what with foul Weather and winter approaching .

reading through some reports , certain bits just stick to your Mind - like Upcoming's trip to huisklip , for instance .You kinda start getting the impression that you wish you couls've been a fly on the wall , just to even catch a glimpse of what is probably one of THe magic spots along our southern Coastline .

Then there was another post put up under satwater , (cuz wikus Likes the attention there ) of another spot which caught my eye .

I have finally found the other Magic spot along our southern shores .... and what a spot it Trully IS ...

For the purposes of self-preservation and out of respect to the guys Owning the spot - names have been changed , to protect the innocent ...

And so it was , that allan and I planned to make a Mission " to this Fantastic spot , that I've heard so much about .

The thing is , it's all a conservency , and the current land owners , rightfully so too , are absolutely HOLY about the place . After Going there now , it all becomes clear as to why .

i give lofty a ring and he says " yoh- as jy by piet se plek kan inkom is jy gelukkig - daar Mag eintlik Niemand daar ingaan Nie , behalwe as jy vir iemand Ken ".

right . This sounds like the type of spot that requires a decent Camera .

I Pack it in . as usual , anticipation always exceeds final result , but let me just say that it was worth ever Minute .

Now for Those of us who believe us humans don't Make an impact along our coastline - i present to you the following .

No buildings are allowed to be erected anywhere along this stretch. That menas No power , no water , nothing . No roads . you May Not even level the section of road that runs down along the Fence . It's raw , unadulterated , unspoilt , as Nature left it . And hopefully Through the efforts of it's current owners, it'll stay that way for years . And years .

we Drive along until the road hits dirt , and Look around for signs of tracks .

ah- there it is . the gate .

Lock it behind us , climb in , engage 4x4 . Naturally Everyone is about ready to take a wee in their pants with excitement .

It's The kind of Place that you only read about . If only the guys hadn't taken me with , I'm sure their luck would've Been Better . Frankly i always go to a spot with too high expectations , but it's unfortunately unavoidable when the spot is so good , with a reputation for delivering Mother size elf .

and That was all i Wanted .

The Path down is bumpy as hell , Mole holes Everwhere , and simon , after rocking up at my house from a party that seemingly Ended -oh - i dunno- around 40 Minutes before he ARRIVED ( with a crap load of Mushrooms in his hand picked where , i have NO idea .....???) was clutching the steering wheel as if it were his life line . Actually , it was OUR life line !!

Rob just sat in the back giggling away like a little School girl < while i brommed in the front at the possibility of Meeting my Maker instead of meeting up with this spot .

 Grrrrrrrr ..........

All the While , Allan is sms'ing me where to drive , as , amazingly enough , even without roads - one can still verdwaal lekker in them bushes .

we get to the famed dune , not letting down the tyres (a point to remember later ) and glide over the reasonably firm sand . Tracks . Broad ones . hmmm. Cruiser .

We stop for a photo shoot as No-one in the Car can contain theri Excitement any longer .

"we "( colin Mccrae ) drive along over the dune , reach the path on the other side , and head back into the bush . A stump Sticking out like a sore thumb is Not Seen and the hilux tries to squash it . THUMp .........

Get to a clearing and hop out . bugger this -pics time .

Have a Look ...

it Feels like it's Not happening - that is how hard it is to imagine being there . Finally .

Now i get to See what only a Few have really seen , and Even fewer have managed to drive to .

The wind is there boet, it's chilly , and i Regret taking more rods than jackets wth .

at This pioint i Must Tell you That it is Important not to lose focus on what target species you're going for , and this is vital to remember , as changing tactics instead of hacking it out and continueing could Leave with with one of our kind of Sessions .

The water Temp unfortunately did Not play along , and when heading down to  your spot and you've Never Seen it before , you Pretty Much need to make the Most of the conditions .

The water was incredibly flat as we Arrived there a little after 7.27 a.m.

 Sheer Magic .

we drive straight past allan and co . Who Are readying themselves already for the Session , and we end up  on a tiny path facing directly at Elf Heaven . This was the Reason I had driven so far . i almost dropped my camera before taking the pics it was so nice .

another sms - you Missed the tunr , you Twat .

ah shcks .

 Omkeer .

 Back over the stump .

Left ...LEFFFT ...Thank goodnes for 14 ft rods , as That Was pretty Much All we Could see of Them .

 Ahah - gotcha !

we stop off at piets"place" , i call it a place , as it's Not really a significant Structure - it's Nothing More than a covering for your kop . Even this was not Met with approval from some of the locals , so this gives you an idea of how badly everyone is Trying to preserve the spot . MR campher bought a stretch of heaven some 13 years back , and , Admitted to Not being able to fully utilize it because of work committments .

He'd come with in his landcruiser to keep a mindful eye on us .

First time meet n Greet over , and after him for some reason , taking a Shine to Simon (!) , he takes me over the Grass , and shows us one or two spots .

The View from Atop is enough to stop any galjoen fishermans heart Net daar en dan .

after Fartign about for another 15 Minutes - the others are Off to a distant spot .

me not able to contain myself , 3 rods n all :)doh) could Barely get down the bloody dune .Hoog bru , hoog .

stuff walking left or right - we're standing in heaven - there should be fish everywhere .

I grip a spot with my eye and decide to chuck a Lead out in that direction .straight in front of the "thing".

DO not give any of your sinkers names - do not Get attached to any one of them . This place is as hungry for lead as what you are for fish . Each cast simply Means you're either ON - or you Break off . Simple rules , really , eh ?

And so , when preparing bait , you Make each one as if it were the last bait you were ever going to put before the king .

" hierdie klippe is rof , julle moet maar Versigtig wees " , is the advice given to us by piet .

Look  i Know My way around the brciks , ok , so when i say that I've Never Walked On TOP of anything like This in my life , i'm not Exaggreating .

Years and Years of Shell deposits , have created a brick formation quite unlike anything I have Ever Seen or stood on before . You can literally See the shells , now covered in algae and sea life , but wherever you look there's not a single siign of Naked Rock face to be Seen . Unbelievable .

I nervously hook up - alles is mos gisteraand al reg - and take my first step out onto this stuff. It gives WAY under my foot . heh ? The water is chilly , My family Factory Gets it's first dunking and almost hides underneath me .yoikes. Chilly .

The wade out to the first set of bricks is amazing .Too much anticipation and excitement always gets the better of me , and i step up nto the plate and let rip .

Shouldv'e actually thrown a kraaines , as i had the distinct impression I was throwing over the fish , who Were swimming there and checking a piece of Red arse fly straight over their heads .

"another %^^&^$ Vaalie , jong ....." i could Hear them saying . Ja ja ....

No Time mos for pitucres- We're fishing man , so if you look at this pic again you'll see we shouldv'e been casting at Our Feet . for those of you fortunate enough to Get here One Day , remember That .

Piet Gustav and Allan are at their spot ,which is too far off to witness them getting first a cob , then piet goes on with a gallie .

but I'll bet you they weren't entering into the casting olympics .

Tja .

I Mustv'e lost 5 sinkers in under half hour . The fish were there , and so too were the Sharks . Those doughnut thingies No-one likes to catch , but put's up anyway after his report just to have something to show for the Day ............... sigh ......

Anyhow , we should've focussed more on the softer baits . but going down there with no knowledge, as wikus put it , you won't Know how to fish this place until you've been down there at least 3 or 4 times . No time for that now , the target species would be elf , twaalf , cracker , and galjoen .

we Were not even permitted to remove any form of bait from the rocks . i was beginning to See why .

as i said , if this isn't a sure piece of Evidence that we screw up our coastline , then nothing is . It is as untouched as you can believe it to be .

apparently Long ago there were a few clever dicks who used to enter the stretch by mena sof a LONG walk , and Rape this section of coastline of it's alikreukel .They come in 2 standard sizes .Groot , en  Don$%%rs Groot . Piet them would find Evidence of their successful heist lying on the beach , marked by hundreds of these huge shells lyign broken open on the beach.

With that much desolation If I had to catch someone doing it , on my mother's grave if it were my property I'd Shoot The blikskorrel right there and then and bury his body in the dune . No-one would find him Not Even if they had sniffer dogs .

The tide started to push  forcing me to retreat Each time to save my Tacklwe box . The water was coming up nicely , but i didn't fancy fishing later on the day there , for Fear of completely running Out of sinkers ...

Piet and allan came back and showed us their catches ..nOnpics as we decided to head off to the "SPOT " !!

we battle the stretch of beach back up the dune , and head off t o The spot .

The tide is pushing Now , so we Should be Onto some fish soon . This is Paradise , No ?

The road going there is a duzi ... Ma Se Kind ... 4x4 an absolute Necessity .

Piet Leads the Way and as the cruiser heads down the dune to his Place , which is so close to the Water you could sneeze and hit surf , we all jump out like Dassies for another photo Shoot .

Ma Se tjops , This is a cool place .....

And if it Was elf we Were after - i Can almost Guarantee you this would be The Hit zone of hit zones .

alas , i had other fish to fry , and While piet filletted his Catch I stood on the kop and took in the sight .

Red bait pods lurking Below the saurface warned me of the Mother in laws . i could just see em chomping through my sinker Stash , which had halved since we got here , and we Were only There for 2 hours . hells Bells .

Fresh Mullet were on the Menu , and allan put one out in search of an elusive twaalf . They get so big here sometimes that gustav has thrown back all his fish under 2.5 Kg .

oh rub it in , will you .......  Shurrup .

allan hooks into a nice little 20 Kg bronzie , and It's Not long beofre Rob gets a pull on gustav's rod while they are busy stuffing their Faces with fresh Galjoen .

I become labelled the doughnut koning . These things just seem to love my hooks . Annoying though , as I;d gone al the Way there for Eds .
