PEOPLE are being warned not to use water from Port Elizabeth’s Swartkops River after thousands of dead carp were washed up on the banks of the river.
Members of the Zwartkops Trust have laid blame on poisonous waste from Markman Township industries entering the river from the Swartkops canal. Dead fish were seen on the banks and some were floating down the river between the Uitenhage and Despatch railway stations.

As we are now already accustomed to, nobody will ever be charged for it, it will just be another disaster that will be swept under the carpet. Is there ANYTHING we as the normal people on the street, here where we actually pay taxes, can do to avoid something like this in future??? It just seems no one really cares anymore
