Installation of transducer

Hi - need some help

Where should I install the transducer, at the back or in the hull?

I've got the GPSMAP 420s, the transducer is very big and I would prefer to install it in the ski (shoot through hull).

Is this a good idea?

Where in the hull should I install it (Yamaha FX140)....any photos welcome.

hi pc, ive got a fx160 and recently had gps420 with a thruhull transducer installed by linex yamaha.

my transducer is a little bigger than a packet of cigarettes and about as half as thick and is situated just behind the partitioning of engine bay and  the back section,below the backseat. on the one side is the battery and on the other is the exhaust(where my transducer is located. if the 140/160 are the same then put it in same position as i have good/clear sonar readings on the dam.(havent tried it in ocean as yet.
