Did you guys watch the program?

The idea of the stinger hook on the dropshot and spoon seems to work good.

What do you guys think?

They were into some fat tigers.

Stinger hooks work well, but when there is structure around they will give you havoc.

My Humble 2 c,

I agree this method works well however in ZA it is the very limit of the range (Distribution) of tigerfish and we should be looking towards better preserving the fish stocks that we have as we donot have the ideal condtions for breeding big tigers or even tigers for that matter.

I feel that stinger hooks makes for more gill or gut hooked tigers = DEAD FISH

Personally I would rather miss the tiger than run the risk of a detrimental deep hook.

As I say this is my view......

Ryan,

I agree with you,

But it was interesting to see that the tigers were mostly hooked on the stinger hook.

Even the beast of 17lbs if I remember correctly.

Guess this method has its pro's and con's...

If the tiger takes the stinger hook it's normaly in the scissors or the fleshy part at the back of the mouth,  they tend to bite short; letting them run and run --- HELLO YOU PISS ARTISTS-- yea they can ingest the hook into the tummy and will not survive.
In all the fishing I've doe at Jozini all the fish caught have swum away, well almost, one guy wanted to fish Tiger fillets, it takes all sorts I suppose.

I suport what ever is better for the fish, and at Jozini I do not use stingers because they foul your lure as most fish are found near some kind of structure.

@Ryan you have a super point, and for sure no more stingers on my boat.

@Dodger, you should set the rules..................

The stinger hook ups I've had been either in the scissors or at the back of the throat, all fish released alive and kicking::S::S::S
