Info needed from fisherman on trophies

Hi All

I posted this under the bass section too.

I want to find out what guys are looking for when they want a mount made from their trophy fish.

A. Just the front of the fish painted with one eye.

B. Both sides with two eyes.

C. What do u expect a reasonable price to be for a fish of let say 6kg.

Riaan,ja ek persoonlik sal se dat dit nie nodig is om beide kante van die vis te verf  nie,BEHALWE as die betrokke persoon so dit wil he en bereid gaan wees om vir die ekstra werk te betaal,bv.as n 6kg vis +/- R1750-00 kos(net een kant geverf) dan sal ek se die kompleet vis sal dan n bullike R2400-00 kos dis rofweg dan 1/3 van die ander prys by getel,dit betaal die tyd en ekstra verf,oog........

Ek weet nie wat al die dinge kos nie dalk is ek bietjie goedkoop??????Daai vis sal vir ewig hou so n mens betaal darm nie vir iets wat na n ruk gaan begin frot nie en dit is iets wat altyd vir die eienaar waardevol gaan bly dit is hoekom mens dit n TROFEE noem afterall!!!!

@rp--Personally I dont think the price of your trophy should be the deciding factor ( animal or fish ), but rather the QUALITY of the trophy you would receive.

This trophy is to serve as a life long memory and you dont want the thing to stick out like a sore thumb on the wall and not look realistic.

I take you are a taxidermist?? No offence meant--a good taxidermist has customers for life, but a bad one has a customer only once.--regardless of your price.

just remember if you want to advertise here, get hold of Kunz-he is the advertising manager, otherwise your posts ends up in file 13.

Thanks for the replies

I'm not advertising here, just trying to see what the guys are looking for nowadays.

At this stage I do 3D mounts with both sides. I have never advertised.

All my work I get by word of mouth. Thought I might start to advertise. My work Is High end as I am a Perfectionist. If I'm not happy with a mount I redo it.

I'm not a taxidermist but makes replicas of fish I don"t use any parts of a fish except teeth on tigerfish and marine fish, if available.  All work is done in fibreglass.

I'll contact Kunz if I want to adertise on here.
