starting to slowly build up my artificial bait collection for when conditions allow.. of the five would you suggest the couta casting spoon if i were to add only one candy spoon for the time being to tackle box.
at present have some spanyids..snake spoon.. kingfisher pro jet in 56g and looking to add the clones too.

I caught 3 rainbow trout on the chartreuse/white SV last year in the Underberg. The wind was howling and my mates were sukkeling with the fly , I whipped out the spinning rod and 30 minutes later we had our 3 for the pot! Lots of fun on an UL rod , 4 pound braid and an 8 pound floro leader..
I tried the bright orange one the next day but after an hour nothing, switched to one with pink stripes and had a few hits and landed one. The boys were getting hungary so put the chartreuse back on and had my quota in 15 minutes.
It was on a private farm with the owners permission as I was fishing for the pot.
Will definately take a few with to mozam at the end of the year!

...If you into spoons , and want to REALLY give it a go....shape your own out of balsa wood....then make a gips mould...then find a engineering/foundry works and get a ally mould made.......cost , other than your time...would be around fifty ronds for a nice piece of balsa.....and around four fifty ronds for the ally mould......your only limitation is how far you willing to let your mind drift as to the shape of the spoon.....as to the metal you would use to mould the spoon...it would have to be 90% proof tin.....if you scratch around metal scrap yards ..you will find it.....at the end of the day its the satisfaction of hooking and landing that fish on YOUR own design.......BUT...only if this idea takes your fancy of course.....Coz , it is less "effort'to hook out eighty odd ronds for a commercially available spoon at your local store......se ma net...
