Impact crack on ski

Hi

I am enjoying Paddle ski fishing for the last two years.
Was introduced to this exciting sport by a very-very keen kayak fisherman AKA Malboer.
On my very young 57 years it was his turn to teach the Toppie the doe's and dont's which he did well and give me the confidence to launch and sometimes all alone.

My beaching however is usually a disaster mainly due to the excellent buoyancy of my ski and my 65 kg"s.
I get picked up by the back dumper and nose dived into the sandbank resulting that I am cutapulted head over heals.

Well, even the best ski can take so much battering and on the last trip Sunday, returning with a empty hatch, and been broken up 7 times, it was the last straw.

The impact was once to much and the result can be seen.
The last time I had a very nice and dry beaching was with a 27.3 kg Wahoo in the hatch.
The moral of the story: Do not return with a empty hatch ;):)

Thanks GT

So many times I thought on bailing but you know it happens in a blink of an eye.

Ja, surely he will be able to help even if it is with tips only.
This Jack of all trades and master of none will be able to do the job if I just know the pressure points.

just an idea but why not carry a bag of sand along.
If you catch something you can dump the sand?

Or a 20L Bucket that you can seal?
If you don't catch something just fill with water and tape down?

Excellent idea !!!!! The water bucket especially but if I take a tumble I might loose my equipment in the hatch if not secured properly.

I cant expect to have the advantage of buoyancy, lightweight, little resistance etc etc to be a positive factor and the "cry" about it.

Maybe I must have more beers ???? stpime2

With a heavier hatch you will nose dive even more. I would prefer the extra bouyancy to keep my nose up. Pick your gaps better and if you do see a wave picking up from the back then surf it sideways not straight:cool:

Very True Trev

I have seen the guys on EVO's coming out broadsided.
Maybe one day I will master that art.

I have started on a Supa lite X and had some beautiful "pro like" beaching's.

Waiting for a good "Lul" is also good advice and only more experience needed from my side.

In the meantime I must fix my ski and tackle the waves;)

I see you on a Pinnacle Elite , with that ski you can ride waves, like you said its just a matter of getting out there and doing it. I have broken my skis just like yours in the photo , we all do it at some time;)

Thank you Trev
Yes, the Pinnacle Elite can ride the waves and is such a lovely all rounder. Little bit less speed and wave punching ability but gained on stability. Must also work little bit harder in the wind and strong current,
but still 99.9% les than on the "flat bananas".
I have witnessed Malboer one day playing. He launched and beached 25 times successfully on his Pinnacle.

I had my "Pro moments" but 80% of the times I am tacking a knock:?
Thanks for the encouraging words:cool:
The Toppie will get there........
