Two rods. One for sliding and the second for edibles/spooning. This would be ideal, again depends on situation on the day. :fishn, let's agree to disagree and play it by ear.
1 to slide two for eds....also depends on your location,if theres sand thats ok, cos the rodholders do their job.....today i went to the tackle store, looking for extra 'hands' - nothing on the shelves!!
so would it be wise to throw out a big bait like a shad head for big eds and leave it, and then use another smaller rod with a smaller bait like a strip of chokka for smaller eds?
normally only one with a beeeg slide out but if the waters are looking sweet ill put in a throw bait, i just dont like leaving a slide unattented, i dont even like putting it down, just incase i miss a fish, cuase then the swearing starts lol
if fishing off the beach, put out one rod with a circle hook and bung it in the rodholder, the other rod you then fish with as per normal, off the bricks...one man one rod!
always fish two .... get a big bait over the lip , while u waitng for the pick up(9 outa 10,the fish hooks it self) scratch with your second for rats and mice ect, or just get two differnt baits out
I don't get to the coast too often but when I do I tend to fish 1 rod during the day so that I can move around freely and not miss bites but at night we will pick a spot and then generally put 2 rods in.
I got a few rods but for diffrent times if you are just scraching around for small fish Iam useing a light rod and reel ,if I slide then I like to just to keep me busy try with the other one for something for the pan ,can get boring if you sit around and nothing is happening with the slide rod.
