my mates on the coast are killing the garrick in the region of 10 -20kg spearfishing!nice couta are also coming past them,if any 1 lives that way go check out tomorrow morning cos they going out again if the water stays like that!they said theres shoals and shoals of garrick in the 5kg range.guys fishing for them are getting them on plugs with the red part in front.so fishermen go throw those plugs,if i was on the coast i would be at ifafa beach in the early morning!just thought you guys would like some fresh info from the south coast guru!remember the early bird gets it 1st

If you come down a little further south to sandspit in port shepstone, there is a lot of garrick coming out, but you would need live mullet. guys are netting in the umzimkulu which is the river that opens into sandspit but they are doing so from the early hours of the morning. some garrick are also being taken on plug. if you decide to fish in ifafa there are plenty of great spots, one of them being Vusi Bay, which i think is the area leonard is refering to.

How do you get to Vusi Bay in Ifafa. I'm not sure where that is

when you take the ifafa offramp, continue straight through until you get to a little shop. there is a railway line that runs along that road. to get to vusi, you will need to park somewhere along the railway and walk along it away from the shop. there is a huge stretch of beach that you cant miss,that is vusi. it is a little bit of a walk though. alternately, in the vicinity of the shop, if you walk straight down to the beach, there is a nice little area that you can fish, and if you go left from there past a set of rocks, you will be at bazely beach, which is an excellent fishing ground. it's been a while since i fished there since i have moved further south, but it used to be one of my favourite fishing spots. a lot of my friends still fish there religiously.
