We caught this fish on Thursday at Robben Island - assumed it is a slender tuna.
Friend of mine called after seeing the photo, he'd looked it up in JLB Smith's book, and he thinks its an oilfish, which apparantly is a rare fish that runs with snoek and " any specimens captured should be preserved" according to the book. I don't have the book and not much wiser after a quick Google.
Anybody know anything more?
(unfortunately fish is in a filleted state, so not much preserving there)
