sorry for not replying sooner but i was out and about yesterday....
Finding the kelp was a bit of luck... we where trawling out and i saw two patches and told the skipper to head over as i saw one boat near the kelp and as soon as we went passed we got 2 hook ups on the bungee....
the kelp was free floating...
after the first 2 patches we found out we headed off again trawling and found another patch on our own and stopped near by and chucked some spinners.... one of the best takes was on a chissel nosed plug...had this massive wake behind it... ended up being the biggest fish of the day!
really was exceptional!

Hey matey,

Not an April fools thing. I saw the fish in the fish box when they came into Millers on Wednesday... And you can't fake that sort of stoke! He he he

Hi Ledge we are going out with our mates ski-boat tomorrow and hopefully will bag some.I just hope the swell is not too big tomorrow. Is there any fish coming out from the ledges?

Flip! I only saw this post now...

Nothing that I've heard. I know some mates were at the pool on Thursday afternoon,  where you got your beaut, and saw thousands of tail moving past on the surface. NOT A SINGLE FOLLOW! Nothing out at the krans either on Thursday.

Been the story for most of the season...

How did you get on yesterday?

Did you find some fish?

Cheers,
L

Went to the deep but got two 25kg yellowfin off the west end of the ballows together with a few small longies and the tail above. Tuna were boiling on the surfice at one stage. Was absolutely awesome to see

Hi Ledge

After trolling off the Point (scary swells) and picking up nothing we headed to Rocky Bank to catch snoek. A shoal of tail came under the boat and while helping to gaff one the shoal moved on but all my mates managed to pick up one each(that sort of season) We managed to catch our quota of fish although the snoek were on the small side. At some places the water temp was 19.5 degrees.

Chat again.

Bushbuck, That must have been awesome!

I was at Cape of Good hope and had to watch my boet dive. There were hundreds of birds hitting the water just outside the kelp near SW reef! It seems that the fish have finally come in closer...

Good times!

Cheers,
L

Ya it was funny on saterday, when we left the piont the water was around 16 it only changes about 10 km off the popint. When we came back at around 14h00 it was as you say around 19.5. We pent most the day chasing the fish in the deep while the whole time they were just off the point. Lets hope the fish stay around for a while. I see the wind is up for the next few days tho :(

@Eckard - we found those kelp beds about 7 miles off, looked good, but the fish had already moved. Must have been amazing diving. Awesome footage bud. When those yellowfin were boiling all i wanted to do was jump in the water. Must be an amazing sight

I've been wanting to get my hands on some yellowfin for a while now!! if anybody has a fillet or piece to spare, you know where to find me!
It is seriously a life changing moment... not just to see them but to see them so relaxed....It's still a dream to see some tuna doing that.... one day soon hopefully! Still need to process the footage and then I'll upload it...
