yes naruto i read the other posts and there are realy good points made there,we as anglers has to find a middle and agree to disagree on certain point:)but that said we also have to find a middle ground were certain aspects of angling gets left untouched and then some rules that has to get adhered to by all anglers.I have no problem with that policy, its just that if we cant all get along we might loose the rights as anglers to have any say in out favorite sport. Now that we are the world champions:sa::wfish fishing has come under closer scrutiny than before and there are powers be that would like nothing more than to cut anglers completely out of the loop when it comes to decisions regarding fishing. To each angler i say you have your own way we might not like or understand it but we must respect it as we would like to be respected for our way of fishing. This is the only sport were race, age, sex,has no impact on the sport wat-so-ever.we can all compete togheter or alone thats what makes this sport so wonderfull,(one dont even have to compete to have fun).like in all sport there are hooligans thats a given and fishing is no exeption , but i say why treat all anglers like they are suspect when a mere tlorant approuch can produce more positive results
I agree with Marthin that each angler should do some homework before desending on an angling destination to know witch species should be protected and wich can be culled(even if its just to go and relax).I dont think any anglers views are wrong but i feel that certain views can be bended to accomadate all anglers. :sf:::

Food for thought.

I do consider myself to be a decent fisherman (and Hunter), same as most other fisherman who enjoy the sport of fishing.

When i use my own standards of "only kill if its to be eaten ".or a mercy killing

Put back what u are not going to eat there will still be plenty of fish to enlarge the fish population in the specific dam

But when you catch 30 fish ranging from 500gr to 10 Kg stuff them all into a small net and then slaughter them , for pure entertainment , I would consider you the fool .

Pretty soon fish stock will be depleted and the poor smucks like us trying to catch one , would be better of swimming down the river.

But myself , i do prefer keeping the fish i catch until departure time( friendly , Family or competition fishing) , making sure that i take only what i need , And returning the rest .After quantity checked basic health and  a foto or two .

I used the raisin bait , and dough
Raisins fill a small glass bottle ,3/4 fill with raisins
Add bottle moirs vanilla or caramel or. Banana essence
Let the raisins soak up the essence and then just hook onto the hook and fish ( remeber it takes a couple of days to soak up , just top up with essence )

Add a floatie and dough or just hook the raisin

Also remember klipdrift is a fruit dam , anything fruity flavoured works .

If water is very murky add some flourocine to the dip on the ball .

And enjoy

I hope you geta couple of nice ones .

Also try some worms small dough on the bottom and dip in duiwelstrek mixed with floro add little sugar to this dip.

If the carps don't wanna bite hopefully a barbel will, also effective on carps in vaaldam .

Everytime ai sat at the wall the ants ate me up...

But yes caught a couple there but not big at all .more success at the reeds , but try a bird if wanting to go big or a head , platties are scarce but try annyway .

I also had success with livers as per a previous post by vreesing them on the hook with pets mince as the groundbait m

But my man the seasons are not what they used to be .

If you are going for big carps I caught most of my big ones from 02:00 till about 07:00 in the morning , then they are shallower.

During the day my experiance was from 11:00 till about 15:00 they area abit dead , but they should pic up from there .
Enjoy

Thanks a lot.

I'm going to make a lekker "voerplek" and hope this will keep the fish closer.

I will definitely try to fish as long as possible at night and sleep during day

I tried to get some platties but to no avail. They are very scarce
