To get the best fishing spot as the photo that I put on you have to be there early the Friday morning before everyone else.

I would love to go if I can get the spot on the cement. Just keep in mind that it is a night dam and you will be wasting your time to go there during the day. At least you will get a good tan as I did.

Let me see what I can do for Friday I will keep you posted.

im only gonna be able to get there by half 8/9 the evening have a work function on friday... and about the tan, i don tan just burn... lol... my tan is a god send...

Gerrit, ek is verbaas om te hoor daar kom nog enige decent visse uit Monument. Daai dammetjie het nogal deurgeloop onder die hook-an-cook brigade die laaste paar jaar.... Toe ons gereeld daar gehengel het n paar jaar terug was daar nog mooi visse tot en met 15kg. Maar lyk my meeste van hulle het intussen verdwyn....n jammerte

Daar is nog decent visse in die dam. Ek was Sondag oggend net so vinnig daar verby en die visse is besig om te spawn. Daar kom nog rereeld vis uit van so 12kg.

Soos en gisteraand vir Carp1 gese het daar is geen reel toepassing van die klub se kant af is nie so die hook-an-cook brigade gaan oor neem.

Dit is 'n jammerte maar miskien moet sommige van ons 'n bietjie met die bestuur van die klub gaan praat en seker maak dat daar meer toesig oor wie daar vang geneem word.

Die jaarlikse gelde is R200 wat nie te erg is nie maar weereens daar is baie mense hier wat dit nie kan bekostig nie.

Dan net een vis van 12kg wat onlangs deur 'n vriend van my gevang is by Monument dam

and we all want to know why the small local dams are being hammered and cleaned out.....

it's like putting a full page ad in the sunday times......

ja dallas i called the roodepoort angling club and they called the cops which were useless, ill take matters into my own hands next time its such a battle to keep these dams stoked for the benefit of all anglers and a few sour apples come and ruin it for everyone, ruimsig is such a small dam and some folks treat it like a super market

Gerrit was it not you fishing the cement jetty when those fish were taken out of ruimsig dam two weeks ago? Or was it your friend?
You say we should do more about protecting the dam against hook and cook brigaders but you let your own mate take over 7 fish each over 10lbs home that weekend?

It was not me fishing there that weekend. I actually fished there on Friday night.01-10-2010

But I heard it from my friend that there was an altercation at the dam. As for my friend he is a hotty and if he sees someone removing fish from the dam he will confront them to rather throw the fish back. He fish at the dam wall side.

Then for the people that were fishing on the cement we have come across them at Monument dam as well. We together with people from the Monument angling club had to call the police to get the people removed.

Nee jong ek weet nie watse gevalle hulle is nie, maar een ding weet ek en nou kyk ek nie neer op mense wat mider as ek het nie. Ek dink hulle vang net vis vir hulle eie gebruik. Ons het al baie met hulle gesels maar hulle sienspunt is as hulle nie kos het nie en 'n vis kan vang dan het hulle mos kos.

Hoe educate jy sulke mense?

Dan kan hy mos iewers langs Harties gaan inglip en 500 kurpertjies vang wat meer kos gaan wees as die Karpe.

Gerrit thats i think what your mate told me.
Apparently this guy does not have graft and only takes the fish to eat because he has nothing else. I mean again if the guy needs food then what can you do. Although explain to him that he must not remove every fish from the dam, and especially not the Big Fish either.

But speaking to him was like speaking to a wall. Actually ive had better conversations with one before. And apparently he has been removed from a few dams in the Krugersdorp side as he constantly does this.

O h alright. That was the same night i fished next to you on that open swim. Who caught that Mirror and where? Was it Ruimsig? Was it put back?

u have a point but getting to harties requires transport, if a person cant afford food in there house then i highly doubt that they have money to get to harties... yes us as recreational anglers frown upon those taking our 'fun' out of the dam, but for them it's a matter of life and death...

My son wants to know if we could have a fishing session with you in order for him to learn more about specimen fishing. Where he can ask you specific questions and see what it is all about.
