I have recently used teh extremely small and thin elastic(rubber) bands to hold the crackers on top teh hook, IThe crackers remain alive for very long, dont fall off and it looks as lively and original as can be.

bru, you could fill a library with all the theories on bait so learn as many ways as you can and try them in different conditions until you find what works when. getting a good run of fish is like creating the perfect recipe, there are many many variables to consider and each one will give you a different result. bait is only one aspect, putting that bait in the right spot is another. water conditions, temperature and colour all count. then there is the moon, tidal fluctuations, barometer readings etc...and to add to that, the weather from the few days before you go fishing count too...oh, the impending weather for the next day counts as well! getting the picture? here's a simple thing that the old salts used to swear by. get a little diary and every single time you go fishing write down all of the variables mentioned above that you encounter as well as what you catch. over time you will see patterns developing and that will increase your odds of being able to do the right thing at the right time.

That is probably the best single piece of advice that anyone can give a new angler.

@Blade...what size rubber bands and were did you source them from

It seems like a good idea as I tried for the first putting those crackers unto a hook last week and it was not as easy as some of the posts make it out to be....again I suppose it all comes from expeerience.

jace it def isnt easy when u do it on ur own , but like i said it comes with practise and guidance. The long shank hooks def help cos u have more hook to hold onto while threading the cracker.

Maybe get some1 to show u how to do it and then you do it and let him show u what u doing wrong. Practise with the small ones 1st , they are easier to handle.

fun enough i never had a problem with them initially ::H must be all the sewing i done in my early childhood thet helped me "thread" em ::craz

guys the best hook to use is  a silver barbed hook (the one that have barbs on the shank as well) it helps keep the cracker look presentable .  the cracker must not bunch up at the bottom. 

i also find that when i'm fishing for grunter using 1 cracker on the hook  i find the  big  ones  biting but  when i thread  two or more  the  smaller  ones  bite.

also  remember  when  the  grunter  sucks  the cracker  out  of the sand  when feeding it takes one at a time!!!

Guys the secret is not to be scared of the crackers.Once you get used to holding them playing around with them even getting bitten by them u on your way.The bite is not bad after all .I found that u get more bites with one cracker than with treading several crackers.The best way is thread it through its bum slighty longer shank hook

use a thin hook, like a no4 diachi.....in my opinion, its the best hook for crackers and you can land almost anything with it.
