I have been carp fishing for about a month now and went out today for my 3rd time ever. Went to George dam because it's the closest to me and it's free haha.

In all it was a pretty good day, started off cold and cloudy clearing up from about 2pm. after some very useful advice from a guy at the dam last week I changed a few things and after about an hour on my first cast I got my first ever take!

Very exciting for me, my first ever carp ever caught! Didn't have anything for a bit so adjusted the dips until I got my winning combo. They just couldn't leave my baits alone and lines were out max 15 mins before a bite.

In all I managed to land 5 and lost 3 which for an absolute beginner I am ecstatic about! First few were 1.1 kg up to 1.6 kg with the best and my now PB being 2.8kg

This is the biggest I managed to get out

Looks like the water level is very low? That's not the easiest venue I've fished, so you've done well I reckon. I was sent a photo of a 60lb + fish today, rumour has it it came from that dam....can't post the pic, it's not my fish sadly.

The level is extremely low.

I went today not even expecting to get anything haha, day started off rather cold. Turned out pretty good!

Only reason I actually got anything though is because of 2 really awesome couples if met there last week and the week before. They gave me some awesome tips and advice!

I have heard there are some 20kg+ in there but that they are extremely hard to actually get on the hook. Personally the biggest ive seen pulled out there is 4-5kg. Some guys pulled out some 8-9kg carp yesterday though
