I got a full (1 800m, 140lb, .45mm)spool of Fireline to put in my in-eds reels. I'm aware that this topic has been covered in another thread, nonetheless I felt that I should share this with everyone how I got it. The spool cost me almost R1/m such that I failed to resist but purchase it all thanks to Junaid (sealine member), who facilitated the transaction. ::S

I'm curious, are you going to be using it as backing?

I was more thinking it is a bit thick for backing. I wouldn't want to assume he would use it as mainline even if he did i am curious as to the reasoning behind it. I know one guy who swears by Firline as backing, the 50lb though. 140lb is a bit rof!

I did'nt know you even got Fireline in 140lb test!

I got a mate who does pelagic longlining for shark, tuna and swordfish.
1800m is a bit short for a top line, but I'm sure he can make some droppers with it.

Using line like that for ineds is kinda like keeping a shotgun by the side of the bed to take out pesky mosquitoes.....

Jislikkit, 140lb must be like serious wire, can you even cast that? I use 20lb fireline on my 14ft drop outfit but just enough for casting, around 150m and cheaper stuff for backing.

But try and break 20lb....let alone 140lb :fbash

30lb Fireline comes it at about .38mm. If that roll is 0.45mm, I'd reckon it is 40lbs and not 140lbs. Or am I missing something?

I guess if 50lb whiplash is apprx. .17mm then Berkely has made fireline of 140lb@ .45mm

No more "the one that got away"
