Hooked, have you tried cleaning the bearings yourself, maybe these okes that have had a look at it don't know that it is full of vaseline, and they all reckon it's grease. Also maybe the vaseline inside has hardened.

 

Get the bearings out, and let them soak in the lighter fluid, until all that kak is out, then let them air dry to get rid of the fluid, and then lube them when you put them in,

I fish mainly with my Tn30 and my Stella thesedays so im not in a huge rush for the reel at this point.
