Hi there , thanx for your input. No it was the "Pap gooi " trails.

Was dit nie net jul provinsiale proewe nie? Die mini proewe is elke jaar na die SA's dit is gewoonlik in April.
These were the Gauteng provincial trials.
The winner won with 18 barble caught on flying ants (rysmiere) and he was fishing a P5 (3oz) trace at arount 140m.
Dewalt van der Walt also finished top of his sector and 3rd or 4th overall with 12 fish, fishing a M0 at around 130m with Devils Fork and FX
Jannman Appelcryn took 2nd place with 14 fish and he was fishing 120-140m, didn't ask him what he was fishing with but it would probably be similar baits
I was at Oranjeville (Ardenza) busy coaching our Masters team with catch1195 and uncleshad and we met up with the Gauteng guys after the trials
Carpking23 your next step will now be to get into your provincial B or C side then after your next experience or 2 at a National championships you can qualify for your provincial A side
Once in your provincial A side you will have to end in the top 24 of the National championships.
Then you will be invited to National trials where you must first be selected to the Federation A side on 2 occassions to then qualify for selection to the National side (Protea's)
It's great to see you're enthusiasm and I wold recommend that you look up Dewalt van der Walt for some training and tips as he is one of the Countries top Anglers and has been selected to the Protea side now on 4 occasions

These were the Gauteng provincial trials - Sorry like I said I am new to this and was not aware,
The winner won with 18 barble caught on flying ants (rysmiere) and he was fishing a P5 (3oz) trace at arount 140m - How da hell where they getting it that far , I threw my backside off and couldn't get it past 80 m , when I got it lekker far , one or other #$%^%^& threw over my lines , I called a "beampte" but he done nothing about it, I will be discussing this in our club anual meeting this month.
Dewalt van der Walt- Please congrad him for me , and please could you get a contact no for him and send it to me via PM , I am new to fishing at this level and I am sure he will be willing to help me , as I love fishing but just can not get to winning comps ,
Thank you so much for your feedback , I am now aware of how the trails work , and what is required, One day I will be at the top , I just need the exposure and I am willing to work hard to get there. Like I said I have only caught 5 club comps in my life and had one opportunity to attend trails , and I thank the Good Lord for giving me the chance to compete at that level ,

okay huge question... where else can u get rysmiere if u werent fortunate enough to catch a few?
a few years back at INANDA DAM outside pinetown, we were fishying for carp from the boat with everything we had, got nothing!! We saw the little township boys fishing from the bank with handlyne mostly, catching 1 fish after the ather... including yellow eals haha... So ja we went over there and saw they were fishing with rysmiere kept in a container with maize...
