Theres a catch you actually pay like R1500 but you have to drive a certain amount of km then they reimburse you if not you paying for a bmw

My niece and her hubby got caught by this, you got to do 2000 km's a month to qualify for a reimbursment, ok if you work as a rep, but with the price of petrol it's cheaper just to buy a car.

I live in Durban and work in port Shepstone and have one of these renault sanderos on the advertising scheme. I got one of these vehicle specifically because of the milage that im doing per month.

Basically how it works is you sms the code advertised at the back of the car. Each car has a unique code attached to the owner of the vehicle.

All negotiations are done via sms and right at the end telephonically. I nearly pulled out thinking it was a scam.

Anyway through persistance i met with the sales rep at the nissan dealership and got my car.

There are 2 schemes in this advertise subsidy car ownership.

The first scheme is the kilometers scheme. In order to qualify for the full R1400 subsidy you need to drive a minimum of 2000 km per month. Should you drive less than 2000 km per month you are paid a percentage of the full subsidy. For example, if you only do 1000 km you qualify for 50% of the subsidy and get paid R700

This stands to reason because they pay you for the advertising and the amount of Km's you do per month indicates the amount of advertising done for them.

The second option is to get paid a flat rate of R570 per month irrelevant of the number of Km's you do. The bonus to this scheme is that when ever someone phones in using your unique code advertised at the back of your car and follows through to purchasing and owning the vehicle. You are then paid R3000 per vehicle sold. So you are almost like a travelling sales person for the company.

Now what they want from you on a monthly basis. The company that you deal through is called bluelakes. They have a website that you log onto and they give you a username and password. Every month between the 1 - 7th you are required sometime during then to take photos of the front, both sides, rear and of your speedometer and upload the photos on their website. That way they can see that the car is in good condition, that their advertising is still on and see your milage travelled.

I know you guys have had negative things to say about it, but i travel in excess of 5000 km per month and its working well for me.

Hell i dont even mind talking finance here. They make you take a vehicle finance loan out with absa bank. My renault sanderos costs me R2400 per month. The payments come off on my pay date and the subsidy of R1400 is paid in at the end of the month. So i'm effectively paying R1000 for a brand new reliable vehicle.

Remember insurance is seperate and you need to have taken out insurance before taking ownership of the vehicle. Here i found virgin money car insurance to be the most comprehensive and cheapest.

I believe that things are getting better, you must just be careful to read the fine print, there are loads of these cars driving around in gauteng so it must be working for somebody.

spoke to my niece, she said hubby didn't read the contract properly, managed to miss the 2000 k's a month completely, they only stayed 5 k's from work.
