I'm very keen for a dive this weekend.

Anyone have an idea what the viz is like in the Buffles / Bordjies / Black rocks area?

Hey Fillet,

Yeah, I'm looking at the various weather sites and it seems as if Saturday may be a no-go. For Sunday it all depends how much the swell wraps into the bay so there may be a possibility.

If I don't get a report which states that its that it's definitely out of the question then I'll go and have a look...but I'll throw in the fishing and surfing kit just in case.

Hey Landshark.

I'm heading off to Black Rocks or possibly Buffels for a surf later on. I will post a report If my arms and legd allow it... I know that Black Rocks is currently about 6 foot and building... 30 guys on it! That never came from me though... He he he

Cheers,

Thanks Ledge, will appreciate a report.

If it's already 6ft then it sounds as if you're in for an epic surf...enjoy!

Landshark Muizenberg is a good 6 feet and the prediction is for the swell to get bigger this arvo I know there are a few guys surfing buffels and from what i have been told it is aleast 6 - 8 feet. Rather take your surfing stuff and galles stuff enjopy which ever you do

Boet, in big swell like this go try in the area closer towards the point, ie the tourist buss parking at the point on the west coast side. There a rock that sticks out the water to the left of the parking (if you were looking out to sea) throw just infront of that rock. Theres a decent hole there. Good gallie.

Hi Guys,

Platboom in the "pool" (just past the surf spot) is the best spot on the Atlantic to get in in a big swell and still scratch a dive.  Plenty of gallies there at times, but quite tricky in the shallow water.  Sunday morning looks like your best chance, after low can also give you better vis as the outside rocks protect the "lagoon" area more on the low tide.

Looking at the swell off Noordhoek this afternoon, though, it has to calm down a lot before you will be able to get in.

Cheers,

Tony

Hey Guys,

There's a risk of this thread becoming a surf report... He he he...

Yeah, Buffels was awesome! 6-8 foot is my guess. The water was cold! Wind chill was worse! Viz was bad. Black rocks was really Big I hear! There really is klomp swell in the bay! Pyramid rock had 8 foot of white water rolling over it into millers... And there was an "unknown" reef breaking about a mile or two straight east from Millers... Looked epic! Would like to explore that reef with a boat for sure!
Oh yes, for those who know where I'm talking about: Platbank and Rooikranz were point breaks! Flip! Tomorrow in the reserve is going to be rediculous... Surf's up mate.

Next week has a few divable days if you're keen?

Chat soon.
Cheers,
L
