Do you mean a SAMSA surveyor or a SAIS / SASCA etc surveyor?

Dunno about the binneland, but to be a SAMSA surveyor at the coast requires surveying the real stuff......ships. That is a whole different ball game. Generally requires an extent of sea going career experience and some progress through your tickets towards either Chief Eng or Master Mariner....or some lessor ticket of either, in those career directions.

ie 2nd Eng, 3rd Eng
Chief Mate, 3rd Mate

etc etc

...ohh you said small craft surveyor......(next time I should read the question, sorry) :-(

I get my boat surveyd in the "binneland" for coastal categories! (the surveyors here are allowed to do that! :))

I would just like to know how does one get appointed / accredited to be a valid / legit samsa surveyor?

contact your safety officer at your club, they will point you in the right direction. it is not a huge process, a couple of lectures and an exam.
