Howdy S/L,

Im fishing Jacky Leonard (Vaaldam) 14.01.2011. I have never fished the venue before.

Can you give me any information surrounding:

1. Is this a good muddie venue?

2. What is your favourite distance at the venue? It seems like 80 - 140mtrs.

Any help will be appreciated.

From the toilet all the way right is good muddie water. 30-50m. If you can get max distance, you should be getting some decent carp. Check the reports...

I checked the report section got the combo's I would like to fish, but wasnt sure what type of "oewer" it was.

It loks like a new "oewer" as limited information is available.

As gertb mentioned we were going to have a club comp there on Saturday but it turns out the farmer does not listen when you speak! We booked the venue four months ago and mentioned to him that we are a big club (60 people) and he must not book a second club for that weekend as we need the whole venue. When we arrived on Saturday there was a second club there and he only reserved 900m of water for us (15m per person?). To make a long story short we went somewhere ells and he lost alot of money (R65 per person and R10 per car) due to his own greed. We will not be booking the venue again!

Hi Steven,

We normally sit two guys per peg 30m apart... So 15m per angler is more than enough.

During some league event we sit 20m per peg so that equates to 10m per angler.

Are you a social club or league club?

Kavalier angling club is actualy one of the strongest clubs in Central Gauteng and nearly half our members represent the province.

I personally do not have any problem fishing very close to the next person as i am used to doing so in league, trials and SA's but the problem during a club comp is that there are whole family's (Seniors, ladies, Juniors and Under 10's) travaling together and they need space.

We don't peg the water at our club comps we draw numbers to decide who enters the venue first, second and so on but this has it's pros and cons. If you peg the water a family will have to share the same amount of space that a person travaling alone gets to himself but on the other hand when drawing numbers the people that enter the venue first will go sit far appart and the people entering after will end up having to squeez into spaces that are not sufficiant.

What i am trying to say is in a league/ trials situation were you have only experianced anglers sitting alone or as a peg you can sit as close as 10m together  as there is the same amount of people per peg and all is fair but at a club compo you will end up putting people at a disadvantage.

Naruto - Steven is 100% correct. Saturday was an absolute mess. When the water was booked the farmer was advised that we have a large membership, but still he went and booked another club. We will definitely not support him again.

We will also be fishing two on a peg (a first for me), so hopefully the rain will stay away. Ho is the dirt road. Will a sedan get in their if it's wet??

The road was not too bad on Saturday but i did see one or two patches that could become a problem if very wet. The way it looked a sadan will not be a problem.

Well, at our clubcomps, we peg as normal. 30m apart. Two anglers per peg. If there are people sitting together they are allocated more pegs as needed. So even if we are a large group, we still peg as normal. Maybe Jackie didn't know that your club did things differently than most other clubs. From our experience we haven't had any problems at this venue. We always have ample space for everyone. even with our last league, things went well.

I Actualy prefer fishing on a peg and tend to perform better on average when i do. Unfortunatly it comes down to a vote at the AGM and the most people don't feel the same.

Im also in favour of pegs. It ensures that everyone gets a fair chance.

I just hate sitting in the middle.
