A poorly spaced or misaligned guide can severely hurt the fishing rod's performance, resulting in premature line wear, incorrect distribution of force along the blank, and stress-induced damage to the rod. At the end of the day, these factors will likelyl add up to more snapped lines and lost fish. To prevent this, it's a good idea to temporarily attach your guides to the rod once you've identified the appropriate spacing.
