How I never lost my Duckbill earlier this year is a mystery.  I think my name was written on the fish and it was just my turn to land one.

When the coil compresses like this it sometimes opens and can either burn you off or work loose in the fight.  Slides with a bead there don't have this problem.

The power swivels can't be pulled through like this, if this wasn't a brand new slide and had had some work or corrosion I'm sure it wouldn't have held.

Let this be a sign of respect for the Duckbill, probably one of the hardest fighting non-eds, pound for pound.  This one even managed to jump clean out of the water 1.78m DW

Roler swivels a must. Why dont the guys that make the slide just make a slite change in te dezine of the slide and bobs your uncle. Wil post a pic of what i think wil solve the closing of the clip.

i had the same problem a couple of times already, its even more embarrassing when you sell the products and your customers complain about them.

I have now taken it upon myself to make them with no.2 power swivels.

These will be available to Sealine members via my mailorder system asap, just waiting for everything to be set up. So hopefully these problems will be a thing of the past.

Those are nice slides same as Dups , they should be around 8-9 rand otherwise it's getting a bit expensiv, congrats on that nice duckbull

I think you where the photografic guy behind the pics. I simply tried to alter the one to shouw what i think mite solve the closing of the spirel. Does not seem annyboddy is tacking notice so i wil say no more. Having a glowbeed rite on your main line and have toothy gritters swim around is not sutsh a great idear thow. But what do i know??? You guys are the experts.^^..

That would work, but proberly to many bends in the process to suite the jigs.

There is a slide out in the market that does not require to be clipped open. I don't have a pic on the computer!

Albatross had one when we were fishing last week that looked nice and strong! All the others I've seen so far were made of thinner guage wire.

you should PM Dup and see if he would try to make the design like you showed.

Thanks Trophy. Have seen those slides yes. But the guys dont like the whelding at the spirel. Think and it is yust that!! Wil dubbel the wire to the end and stop where the swivel get fitted thow.

Hiya Enigma,

I see like you many guys tie the stopper by the swivel onto the main line. In my opinion this make another weak spot in your setup.

I tie the mainline directly onto the stopper ring and use the swivel to tie the sinker snood.

100% better this way!

Trophy is on the button here. In fact i actually clip the swivel off! I rather go direct than tie to a potential weak spot...as jy moet trek boetie...moet jy TREK!!!!!

Trophy, I usually tie directly to a ring without a swivel.  When I'm only using a 1mm leader and not a windon I tie to the swivel.

The slide goes over the swivel and cannot chaffe the knot. I have lost some big fish on thinner leaders where the line has chaffed through on the ring, by the slide coil bearing directly on the knot on the ring. BUT, I then normally have a heavier slide with a power swivel (not as in the pic). 

When I fish wire on the last 1m-1.4m of the leader I take all the swivels off the rings, irrespective of how thick my leader is and use solid rings normally used for heavy jigs.

With a 1-5-1.6mm windon the slide fits tightly around the figure 8 and the chances off chaffing off are less so there's no need for a swivel on the stop ring at all.

Volcom.  Fishing Pro Shop (Silverlakes), Angling Africa and Double Deadly (Centurion) carry the shake downs.

Very pricy though but from what I have experienced slides superquic and with less moving parts, less likely to cut your line of fail you when being pushed to the limit.
