hook sizes

Hi Guys & Gals

Can anyone tell me the make &  size of hooks a person must use @ boschkop vaal dam? Everyone tells me size 2 & 8 but there are different make and their sizes are different too. very confused busy sitting and making up the setup to catch but really need help with the sizes PLEASE>

#2 and #8 are in reality the same size

Some hooks are provided in European sizes ie Mustad, Awa-Shima, Gamagatsu and then some are provided in Japanese sizes ie Daiichi, Ryoichi

a Jp #2 and a Eu #8 are about 9mm high and 6mm wide and a Eu #8 the same a

Jp #3 and Eu #6 are the same and a Jp #5 and Eu #4 are the same

For general fishing the Jp #2 or #3 would be the generic size hook used and competition anglers would fish Jp 0.8 and #1 (Eu #12 and #10)
