I want to go on Sunday to Homestead, what can I use the for bait and where is a good spot to sit? :fishn

I was there 5 weeks back but no luck.

will it work if i trow out bait on Friday and go catch on Sunday? a Kg of liver?

i dunno bru , i think the crabs will clean you out by then try get day old chicks

so if i trow out the chicks as is or do i chop them ? how many do i need to trow out?

one on your hook, if you want to chum you must do it the night before but in deep water otherwise you will a million crabs there, and they have to put through a mincer to chum with

and if you get a small carp use the head, but please please please dont kill carp that are breeding or are big enough to

deisel thanks for you help i will give the chum a go. so do i use a chick as bait or livers?
How deep does the water need to be 2 m or deeper?

How many KG do i need to chum with? 3 kg?


i only use small carp 1 kg - 1.5 kg.

a crab is a bugger when chuming mate, make sure its deep deep, use the chick as bait and your chum must be as fine as possible, minced up properly, otherwise the fish will gorge on chicken pieces and will stop feeding

depends on the size of the dam i dont like chumming, it could backfire if the fish eat to much chum they go of the feed

thanks for the help i will see if i  will  do the chum as the water is about 2m deep.

i wouldnt i would distribute at least three rods in really good looing areas, try the deep try the shallow and try the structure, by doing that you an determine where they are if they not surfacing, then stick to the preffered area

u must de-skin ur day old chicks... i livce 10km from homestead, want to try it for cats as well sometime... but im not going there without platties or day old chicks.. wont waste my time with livers and other meat...

ditto, fish heads will also work but like he said the liver wont be so great

I will take 2-3 rods and see if i can get any bit will do the differed depth's and put one close to structure.

how close to the structure can i go ?

Hi Acidhouse, i go for carp most of the time but what to give the barbel's as shot again.

how it work with the carp i feed them and my friend's catches them i catch all the small ones 2 kg.
