Nothing banned yet but they are considering banning fishing on all swimming beaches.
Brett great stuff but those who had the knee jerk reaction must also be targetted directly with this information.
Add some paragraph numbers, put it on a letterhead, make it look some official document / letter and address it to all stakeholders in the local government who would be dealing with that legislation and then also address it to all the Opposition party equivalent's
Public media is just that, Public media so the public have seen what you have written but quite likely that 99.5% of those who will pass the legislation don't read a local paper so the best is to put your well stated facts under their noses and to as many as possible
Directing it personally to them will give him the chance to read your/our points (appointed spokesman) and even if they don't take direct action on it you will have planted the seed for them to consider when and if discussion on possible legislation come to the table.

The amount of revenue that can be generated from annual permits for beach access, the beach plates for the vehicles themselves and access control at various beaches must be a substantial amount of income! Have any studies been done to come up with some projected figures for these scenarios?
It would 'create jobs' and sustainable ones at that irrespective of weather or not the employed individuals actually do the job.
Maybe the latest minister of water and environmental affairs, Edna Molewa, is more receptive to the information than her predecessors. Surely bolstering her existing R1,8 million per annum salary (as per wiki) would only be incentive to make it a reality.
