High Tide - Astronomical high tide

Hi Guys,

This weeks Sunday tribune had an interesting article on Higher than usual high tide that will occur on the 20 March 2007.

It has something to do with the sun, moon and earth being in perfect alignment resulting in very high tides called astronomical high tides.

This phenomenon occurs once every 18 + years.

Anyone planing on fishing during this time (especially from rocks) do take care.

Hey Khani,

Thanx for the info man . Am going to be fishing at Uvongo/Orange Rocks from The

17th to the 23rd of March. Will definetly make a note of the date.

Does anybody know whether such a phenomenon is good or bad for fishing? Anxious

hear your views.

Thanx again Khani.

Hi

I am just guessing,;) i would think that the higher the water the more fish if you think about it this would probably bring the fish closer to the shore?? Just my theory!!:p

Cheers On Dad!

Hey On Dad

That's ultra cool ... if your theory is correct,  then bring on the couta man :D. Would be great to do battle with one of em crocodile ones from the shore, will make sure to put out a livie on the high tide on the 20th of March.

Will be anxious to look at the guys catch statistics for the 20th of March.

What about the low tide? During a normal spring tide, from what I understand, there is a higher than normal high tide and when the water goes out on the low spring tide, it goes lower than a normal low tide ... so will the low tide on the 20th of March be at its lowest in 18 years?

Hey Phish

Not sure if it's going to be the lowest in 18 years, but here are the tides with heights for the 20th and a couple days either way. I have never noticed the the height of being indicated as low as 0 before as is the case with the 22:17 low on the 19/03/2007, so its possible.
