We fished the whole week there.The surf was huge but turned down by woensdag.The fishing was gr8 ,water temp 25gegrees and the dorado were wild ,we cought 21 the first day, no couta were seen nice yellowfins came out 15kg.

I lost n monster yellofin of 40-50kg to n zambie, that was a sad sad sight to see.Wil be there to fish the couta classick in hibberdine.Hope to see you peaple there aswell

Hi. No we fished out of hibberdine ,we got a huge reverse current in front off port shepstone with a nice coulor line witch wil still be there.And the dorados were wild.The comercials were also there and they cought up to 70dorries each day.Then we trolled in front off hibberdine itself and picked up a lot of bonnies an yellofins.No couta yet.

No, sardine drift on the coulor line.
I am jealous of you, theres a lot of fish at the moment.The bonnies take rapallas and daizy chains.A lot of bonnies on the left of hibberdine on the shallow reefs.You wil also pick up yellofin there.Big yellowfins came out deeper (small horse shoe) the dorries we got at south 20. Water is between 25 and 30 degrees and the wether is gonna be gr8.The surf was huge but it totally changed.I think you will get some couta aswel.We heard someyone got a 50kg sailie last wednesday.

Morning Keegz

We have seen a lot of mackeral. Every now and then they jump in the jetski.I think thats why the yellowfins are so shallow.Most baitfish we found just in front of the sharknetts,thats where i lost that monster yellowfin.We also saw a few snoek on the backline

Hi everyone

Looking forward to the Couta Classic that is around the corner!!!
My Mom and Dad will be taking part in the competition too.

We are beginners to this whole Couta thing...so a few tips would be great! I've read alot about "bonnies" - but what is the best way to catch them, and where?

To everyone participating - Enjoy it! We will be chearing you on from the side...

I hear the fishing is pretty hot down there at the moment.
At least the couta are there this year,i hear a 29kg came out the other day.Tuna are also wild.
So i think we in for a lekker comp.

We fished last weekend a bit further north (Umkomaas). We located the bonnies by seeing them 'boiling' on the surface. Also look for birds, normally they are a tell tale sign of bait in the area. We caught bonnies on home made daisy chains and small 'snoek' spoons. You could get away with trawling a yozuri for the too.
We also managed a few small couta on live bonnies. I did see another boat land a biggie around 20kg.
Also last weeks Winkle paddle ski compo saw some nice couta between 20 - 30kg, the winning fish was 35kg

Can anybody please inform me about the launching conditions and regulations in Hibberdene. Also a contact or two for the clubs etc that might be needed.

are you ging to be fishing the couta classic?my dad will be down there on the water in the river at 1am waiting in the line for the compo.there will be a tractor to push the boats in the water.launching through a bay but the shore break could get big there some times
