Hi, was wondering if anyone still fishes for bass

In a tournament, where the rules clearly state "artificial lures only", that is cheating - plain and simple!!!

Well I have to admit, I've never seen any of the pros on ESPN etc using livebaits, is it only in specific formats of their compos that they allow live bait?

Sorry bud you will have to ask the bass masters - VC is on the water today so maybe you will get a better response tonight this is where I got a bit of insight into it.
Just remember the yankees don't like cruelty to animals so this may be a ratings based reason as to why they don't air "Live Baiting"

My 2 c worth.........

In the Elite series and the FLW they don’t use live bait. Don’t know about the other comps. But SABAA will be joining or merging with the BASS organisation in the states. So i do know some of our rules will change. I got this from our last Bass meeting

Dead eartworm is not an artificial bait ;-) As far as live bait taking the fun out of fishing, well that is a personal opinion. It's always fun for me to catch a 3kg+ fish and with live bait (in the right situation) catching those elusive 3kg+ is always a possibility.

In a lot of instances especially where small bass have had population explosions and stunted growth has resulted the staple diet for large bass is small bass so your not really upsetting the apple cart. If it werent for our intervention we wouldnt have bass in our waters in the first place.....

Thanks for the welcome, lol, it took this subject to get me active, i am 100% into conservation but there is a time and place for everything and if you are PB hunting live bait is just another tool in a very large collection of techniques.
